Students can wear their Children's Grief Awareness shirts or any blue shirt on Thursday, November 21st, in support of Children's Grief Awareness Day

Children’s Grief Awareness Day is an international observance created in 2008 by the Highmark Caring Place. It is observed every year on the third Thursday in November (the Thursday before the U.S. holiday of Thanksgiving). During library class, students will learn about the Highmark Caring Place and how they help children who have lost a loved one. They will also be creating blue butterflies for a mural that will honor all children who may have lost a loved one. After decorating these butterflies, students will have the opportunity to add the name of a loved one that they have lost to the back of the butterfly as a way to honor them.
