What is the PFA:

 

The McKnight Parent Faculty Association is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization staffed entirely by volunteers. The PFAs primary mission is to provide opportunities for McKnight students, their families, and the amazing Faculty & Staff that enrich their lives every day!

 

The PFA funds, subsidizes, or provides volunteer coordination for many activities and events at McKnight!

  

What Does the PFA Do?

 

The PFA:

  • Funds School Field Trips

  • Organizes All Classroom Parties

  • Funds Special In-class Project and Activities

  • Donates School Equipment & Infrastructure (i.e. Sewing Machines, Playground Equipment, Gaga Ball Pit)

  • Supports events like Field Day, Book Fairs, Assemblies, etc. 

  • Coordinates McKnight Family Events (Back to School Bash, Family Picnic, family events, & more)

The McKnight PFA Board is made up of a dedicated group of unpaid parent volunteers. Board members play an important role in keeping the PFA and it’s associated events and activities up and running.

Board Member Responsibilities

 

 

President:


- Organize and oversee all monthly PFA meetings.
- Organize and oversee all PFA Board meetings.
- Oversee and coordinate the work of all the officers, chairpersons, and committees.
- Be the main point of contact for the school Principal (and other staff.)
- Attend other meetings on behalf of the PFA.
- Serve as an ex officio member of all committees (excluding the nominating committee)

*The role of President my be be filled by two Co-Presidents.

 

Vice President:


- Assist the President.
- Carry out the President’s duties in their absence.
- Oversee all committees.


Secretary:


- Keep all records.

- Prepare meeting agendas.

- Record and organize meeting minutes.

- Send notices of meetings to members.

- Own all communication with members.

- Keep and organize the below items and have them available at all meetings:

- Bylaws

- Standing Rules

- Membership list

- Any other necessary supplies

 

Treasurer:


- The Treasurer must have appropriate experience in the accounting field.

- Receive all funds of the organization.

- Keep an accurate record of budgeting.

- Keep track and record of all actual receipts and expenditures.

- Pay out funds in accordance with the approval of the Executive Board.

- Present a financial statement at every meeting (and at other times of the year when requested.)

- Make a full report at the end of each year.

- File all annual tax returns following the end of the fiscal year.

 

Assistant Treasurer:


- Receive and deposit funds of the association in a timely fashion.
- Perform additional duties delegated by the Treasurer
- Assume the position of Treasurer when required.
- Appropriate experience in the accounting field is preferred.

 

Webmaster: 

 

-Must have updated school clearances.
-Must agree to keep personal information for students and staff confidential .
-Update and Maintain PFA Website including homepage and calendar.
-Help build and maintain PFA website forms for purchases and volunteer opportunities.
-Work with the PFA Treasurer to ensure purchasing and pricing information is correct.
-Manage the Webmaster gmail account and assist users with any website issues in a timely manner.
-Help manage PFA social media platforms.

 

*The role of Webmaster requires the individual to have access to personal and confidential information for staff and students.  Additional screenings may be requested and required as the school, district, and/or PFA board sees fit.
