For this special “Meet McKnight” post, we’re featuring not one, but two of the amazing people who help keep our school healthy and happy—our incredible school nurses, Mrs. Hunt and Mrs. Romano!
Whether helping a student who’s feeling under the weather, teaching our kiddos about healthy habits, or just being a friendly face in the Health Office, Mrs. Hunt and Mrs. Romano are always there to support our students. Let’s learn a little more about them!
PFA: Tell us about your role at McKnight.
Mrs. Hunt: As the school nurse, I provide care for students who are sick or hurt during the school day. I also visit each grade to talk about healthy topics like handwashing and hygiene. Every year, we screen students’ vision, height, and weight.
Mrs. Romano: I work right alongside Mrs. Hunt, helping provide care to students throughout the school day.
PFA: How do the students know you?
Mrs. Ramano & Mrs. Hunt: The students know us from the Health Office, of course!
PFA: What is your favorite thing about working at McKnight?
Mrs. Hunt: As cliché as it sounds, the students and staff make this the best building in North Allegheny. I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else!
Mrs. Romano: My favorite thing is getting to interact with and build relationships with all the students.
PFA: Do you have any hobbies?
Mrs. Hunt: I love exercising and going to my kids’ sporting events.
Mrs. Romano: Exercising and baking are two of my favorite hobbies.
PFA: When you’re not at McKnight, where are we most likely to find you?
Mrs. Romano: I love spending time with my family, when I'm not at McKnight you'll most likely find me with them.
Mrs. Hunt: Just like Mrs. Romano, you'll probably find me with my family - more than likely at one of my children’s sporting events.
PFA: Is there anything you’d like to share with our students and families?
Mrs. Hunt: I am a firm believer that everyone deserves a little grace. We’re all just trying to do our best to get through busy days filled with work, kids, and life in general.
Next time you see Mrs. Hunt and Mrs. Romano in the Health Office or around the school, be sure to say “hi” and “thank you!” They truly help make McKnight a safe and welcoming place for all of us.
