Fifth Grade - Colonial Day!
3/13/2024 1:25 pm
Colonial Day is a fun and interactive event that transports McKnight's 5th-grade students back in time to Colonial America! This annual fifth-grade favorite is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th this year. It is a cornerstone of McKnight's curriculum, and gives students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves into the history and culture of America.
What Students Can Expect:
- Reenactments: Students have the opportunity to interact with historical reenactors who help bring the colonial era to life.
- Artifacts: Historical artifacts and objects from the colonial period are on display, allowing students to examine and learn about items used by colonial settlers.
- Colonial Feast: A traditional colonial feast is shared amongst students, providing a taste of the food enjoyed by colonial Americans. (this is where volunteers are needed)
- Colonial Fashion: Students are encouraged to get in character and dress in colonial-themed attire.
Why is Colonial Day Important?
Colonial Day serves as more than just a fun event for kids to dress-up! It is a McKnight traditional that gives our fifth graders the opportunity to engage in fun, immersive, and hands-on learning while also promoting an appreciation for history!
